Island Life

Arran may be a relatively small island, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do!  Island life is best suited to those who enjoy a more relaxed, outdoor lifestyle but Arran also offers a huge range of activities from water sports and hill walking to music, history and culture. Nicknamed “Scotland in miniature”, Arran really does have something for everyone, stunning scenery, amazing local produce and of course the famous Island hospitality.

There are plenty of opportunities to join local clubs and groups on the island including sports teams like hockey, football and basketball as well as local drama clubs, chess clubs and much more. Some of our team also volunteer within the local community and work with services such as the RNLI, and Arran Voluntary Services.

Arran is well equipped with amenities including shops, coffee shops, pubs and good public transport links around the island.  We are only 2 hours from Glasgow and there are good transport links from Ardrossan to many towns in Ayrshire.

We encourage anyone thinking about applying to work at Auchrannie to find out more about the island by visiting www.visitarran.com. You will be amazed by everything Arran has to offer.

Social and Wellbeing

We provide a programme of work events that you can get involved with throughout the year.  Some of our most popular recent events have included guided walks in the island’s spectacular mountains and sailing round the island on the iconic Waverley paddle-steamer. In the winter months when the weather is less favourable, we host activities like team quiz nights, Island distillery tours and our Resort Christmas party.

Our team can make use of our awesome leisure facilities and organise regular games nights including football, table tennis and badminton as well as the chance to try Segway and archery.

The Auchrannie Charitable Trust

Auchrannie is also committed to supporting our local community.  The Auchrannie Charitable Trust was introduced in April 2022 with the aim of supporting local charities and groups who work to improve our island’s environment and the wellbeing of our community. The grants awarded by the Trust help to make Ayrshire and Arran a better place for visitors and residents.

Our team regularly take part in fundraising activities to raise money for the Auchrannie Charitable Trust through events like the sponsored Kiltwalks, as well as volunteering within the community.
